Good things happen when everyone in our community feels a sense of belonging and connection. That's why for over 160 years, the YMCA has been bringing Canadians together.
A vibrant, healthy community offers opportunities for everyone. At the YMCA, that often means stepping forward with a new program or service to address specific and unique needs in the communities we serve. It may also mean reaching out, beyond our walls, to deliver programs where they are needed most.
Each local Y delivers their own unique mix of YMCA Community Initiatives, based on the needs of their community. Here’s a look at some of the programs that may be offered at your local Y to help people feel a stronger connection to the support available in their community.
Many Ys offer services to help newcomers to Canada feel welcome in their new home. Our goal is to enhance your settlement experience and help you get the information you need to adapt to life in Canada.
Child and Family Development
Learn, play, and connect! Our YMCA Child & Family Development programs offer fun, interactive programs where you and your family can come together to build skills and strengthen relationships.
Growing up is full of challenges. Many Ys offer special support programs for youth to help them address the barriers that may be holding them back from future success.
A great way to meet new people and do something different! YMCA Social Activities bring together people who share common interests. You’ll find something we don't always get enough of — each other!
Everyone should have a place to call their own. If you need housing, your local Y may offer supports and resources to help you find a safe and affordable place to live.
