    National Child Day 2024

    The YMCA is pleased to have partnered with UNICEF Canada together with BGC Canada, Equitas, Jack.org, the National Reconciliation Program at Save the Children Canada, Plan Canada, and the Students Commission of Canada to support UNICEF Canada’s Youth Activism Summit and launch of the 2024 Reimagine Playbook on National Child Day.

    YMCA Canada Statement on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2024

    YMCA Canada reaffirms our solidarity with Indigenous communities, reflecting on our ongoing responsibility to participate in Truth and Reconciliation. We know that the journey towards Truth and Reconciliation is a long one and that there will be moments of fatigue. However, we remain committed to doing more to partner with Indigenous communities on activities that work toward reconciliation, including providing more programming and building YMCAs on reserve through collaboration with community members.

    The YMCA acknowledges the deep historical and ongoing impacts of colonization and recognizes the importance of honouring Indigenous cultures, histories, and contributions. This day provides an opportunity to educate ourselves and others, fostering a deeper understanding of the Indigenous nations that have a long-standing and continuing presence and rich history on this territory.
