Morgan’s Story: Riding for Purpose, Leading with Heart

YMCA of the National Capital Region

At the YMCA, we believe in empowering people to build stronger, healthier communities – and that includes the people who work with us. Morgan Bello, Vice President of People & Culture & Corporate Services at the YMCA of the National Capital Region, embodies this spirit of purpose in action.

This summer, Morgan took on the 275 km BC Bike Race to raise funds and awareness for the Y’s Second Stage Housing Program — supporting youth at risk of homelessness with safe, stable housing and wraparound care. Inspired by his own story of resilience, he set a goal to raise $90 per kilometer, enough to support one youth for a full year. His ride has already raised over $15,000!

“It wasn’t only about the race – it was about the community behind me, [supporting me] for this meaningful reason.”

Morgan’s journey is one example of how YMCA staff live our values every day – helping to build a more inclusive, compassionate, and supportive Canada.
