Shaping Tomorrow Together: A Canada Day Reflection

Every year, Canada Day offers an opportunity to reflect on the country we are today – and the country we aspire to become. As Canadians, we are proud to live in a country that celebrates compassion and diversity. Yet we are also reminded of our collective responsibility to continue to imagine and work toward a more just, inclusive, and united nation.

At the YMCA, we are honoured to have been there for Canadians in times of need, and we remain committed to helping people thrive going forward, no matter who they are or where they are from. On July 1, while it is important to acknowledge the complex history of this beautiful and bountiful land we call home, including the lasting impact of colonization, it is also a time to celebrate the hope that unites us: the belief in a better future for all.

Together, we can shape a Canada that reflects the best of who we are and who we strive to be. Let us continue walking this path towards healing and hope. We wish a happy Canada Day to all of our friends and family!
