In an effort to explore the potential development of the first YMCA within a First Nation in Southwestern Ontario, the YMCAs across Southwestern Ontario and Walpole Island First Nation signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on February 11.

While the main purpose of the MOU will be to discuss the feasibility of a family fitness facility on Walpole Island, the parties will also be working together to identify other potential opportunities to achieve mutual goals of building healthy communities and improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of Aboriginal children, teens, adults and elders.
