On October 22, the Town of Marystown and the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that they had signed a 20-year renewable agreement for the YMCA to deliver programs at the new Marystown Recreation Centre.

The YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador recently successfully completed a $20-million project in St. John’s and is also working on a similar facility with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Under the agreement, the Town will remain the owner of the facility and the YMCA will operate any aquatics, gymnasium, exercise, or day camp programs.

“The YMCA is delighted to be entering into these agreements. Marystown is a terrific community, and we are proud to soon be opening the Marystown YMCA,” says Jason Brown, CEO of the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador. “This will be the first permanent YMCA presence on the Burin Peninsula.”
