“No matter who you are, everyone should have a fitness goal,” says Lizzie Bergman, fitness instructor at the Flamborough Family YMCA.

Two years ago, Lizzie met new (and reluctant) member Amy Bajc, who wanted to get healthier despite a number of physical and developmental challenges. The two have worked together since then, and on November 1 Amy intends to walk in Hamilton’s Road2Hope half-marathon. Her goal is to complete the race in four hours and 15 minutes.

"My reward will be seeing Amy cross the finish line with a big smile on her face," said Bergman, who volunteers her time for training and race days, in a recent interview for The Hamilton Spectator. "If I can help Amy to reach her fitness goals, that's my reward."
