Launched in January 2018 by the YMCA of Greater Toronto in partnership with nine YMCA Member Associations, the YMCA Community Action Network is off to a roaring start.
The innovative national program and pilot project, part of the Canada Service Corps first announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, supports young leaders (ages 15-30) by offering opportunities to respond to a community need through executing service initiatives that are meaningful to them.
In Winnipeg, the YMCA Community Action Network is already working closely and successfully with the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba to deliver supports to youth who are new to Canada.
Eighty-two service projects are slated to be completed by more than 800 participants by March 2020.
