On October 19, Canadians flocked to the polls in record numbers to cast their votes for their political representatives in our 42nd federal general election. As a true centre of community, the YMCA played an important role in the federal election, hosting voting stations in many communities on election day.

In the weeks leading up to the vote, YMCAs also helped to engage young Canadians – tomorrow’s voters – by spreading the word about the National Democracy Challenge 2015. And the YMCAs across Southwestern Ontario’s Learning & Career Centre also hosted “Vote Pop-Ups,” simulated voting walk-throughs designed to demystify the voting process for first-time or infrequent voters.
