Kat Clewley, a Health and Wellness Supervisor with the YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford has an unusual sport of choice. Running backward—known as “retro-running”, Kat recently achieved her goal of becoming the first Canadian female to complete a marathon backwards! Her time of 4:48:42 also qualifies her to hold a Guinness World Record for a woman accomplishing a marathon backward.
Kat’s primary goal was to raise funds for the YMCA Beyond the Bell Program, an after-school program geared toward closing the gap between children from low-income areas and their middle-income peers. Her fundraising page shows that she surpassed her $2,000 target, raising more than $2,400! Read more about Kat’s feat and hear a radio interview with her on the Radio Canada International website.
