Patricia Pelton has been elected as President of the World Alliance of YMCAs, the first time a woman has ever held the role. She was elected for the 2018-2022 term on a platform of youth empowerment, strong YMCAs, good governance and robust financial oversight.
Patricia is a respected global leader whose extensive experience will serve her well in the position. An accomplished executive in the health care sector, she is a committed YMCA volunteer and has been throughout her life. She has served locally in Edmonton and Calgary; nationally including as Chair of the YMCA Canada Board of Directors; and has participated in several committees of the World YMCA.
Patricia received global support in her election bid and greatly appreciates all of the good wishes and support she received. She thanks the leaders who came before her, serving at the world level on behalf of the Canadian YMCA. Patricia has worked tirelessly in pursuit of this goal and we know she will have tremendous impact during her term.
Also at YMCA World Council 2018, Craig Rowe was elected as Canada’s representative to the Executive Committee for the 2018-2022 term. As Canada’s representative to the Executive Committee, Craig joins 30 other global representatives providing strategic leadership to the World YMCA.
A past Chair of YMCA Canada, Craig is a respected leader and entrepreneur with a long history of serving the YMCA. Craig has built relationships with global YMCAs leaders, notably through his participation in the YMCA Africa 2.0 and 3.0 conferences, as well as YMCA World Council. During his term on the World Executive Committee, Craig’s collaborative style and commitment to youth engagement will undoubtedly be among his signature contributions.
Congratulations to both Patricia Pelton and Craig Rowe!
