The new Marystown YMCA has proudly opened its doors! The building is owned by the Town of Marystown and operated by the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador. This exciting partnership, one of many similar partnerships happening across the country, is helping the population of Marystown and other communities on the Burin Peninsula become healthier and more active.
The 33,000 square foot building includes a fully accessible lane pool, a play pool, indoor walking/running track, workout facilities with cardio, strength and free weight equipment, a child-minding room, multi-purpose gym, and steam room. Residents of all ages enjoyed the facility on opening day, praising its range of offerings.
Seven-year-old Bryson Alexander, interviewed by local media ahead of his first swim in the pool, summed it up in one word: “Awesome.”
